Ignorance & Oedipus

Many people think that just because it’s not happening in their country or even to them they think that an event is unimportant and doesn't really matter.  This is called ignorance and is effecting the Christian population that is living in the middle countries.  Most people know that Middle Eastern countries are mainly Muslim but don’t realize or even look in to the fact that they are targeting other religions, the Christians, in order to keep out their ideas.  Since people don’t know the whole story, they are not able to help which has resulted in a big drop to the Christian population in many countries in the Middle East.  About thirty years ago 60 percent of the population in Lebanon was Christian, now it is only 25 percent. This shows how fast they are getting their job done.  The story, Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, explains the effect on people around Oedipus from not knowing the truth.  This is true to what is occurring  today where people aren't well informed so they think nothing is wrong but in reality things are getting worse.  Being ignorant of what is happening in the Middle East does not only hurt Christians their but allows the persecution to continue without anyone stopping it.
